about the couple

Introducing Ashwin Prasad and Sapna Suresh I am the boring academic from Rockhampton QLD and Sapna is the adventurous traveller from Sydney.

how they met

Was visiting my sister in Sydney and was dragged along to a night out in Darling Harbour. Never looked back since!

the proposal

Hawaiian beach in front, volcano behind, sun rising above and not another soul in sight. A few magical words – and the rest was history…

the engagement

A private tatami room in a Japanese venue which unfortunately no longer exists! Family, great setting and sushi boats! A nice intimate night.

the wedding

Ceremony and reception at Le Montage Bayside in Lilyfield. From 5am til midnight we experienced some of the greatest memories of our lives. Family from Cochin, Madras, Madurai, Singapore, Melbourne, Berrima, friends from QLD, Canberra & Albury, folks from Mumbai made the day a living fairytale. Entered reception literally with a bang > Rupi, the Dhol drummer. MC’ed by none other than our brother Raj Raghavan who kept the spirit alive! Raj sang a Hindi song dedicated by myself to Sapna, and Sapna’s “Maid of Honour” & partner in crime Maria, sang a number dedicated to myself from Sapna.

in summary

bridal dress: Reception - Sapna found a base dress (white wedding style) and designed her own styles on top to personalise it. Wedding sari - Sapna and her Aunt bought it from the ultimate place in Chennai - RMKV (Fire red with gold work to make it look deep orange)
grooms outfit: Ceremony Kurta - we bought in Mumbai (cream with gold work). Reception - Nehru collared suit, black with deep silver vest.
